Old and new. Traditional and modern. A 100-year-old farmhouse converted into a temple of design. Zaha Hadid, Achille Castiglioni, Eero Saarinen, Jasper Morrison’s furniture fill the space. Local artisans create lacquerware and wood carving at our on-site craft studio. Stone quarries, charcoal-making, Kutaniyaki pottery, washi paper milling. Fine craftsmanship runs in the blood of this region.
We craft food from earth to table. Organic vegetables and fruits grow at Takigahara Farm. Our chefs source rice, fish, meat, and eggs from local farmers and fishermen. Dishes blend Japanese tradition and international cuisine. Eat fresh, simple, delicious. Taste the local soba-flour gallette at Takigahara Cafe. Raise a glass in the evening at our natural wine bar. Your tastebuds are in for an adventure.
A community crafting a new village. Young people making a life away from the city, close to nature. A place you can work on the land just as easily as online. Spend a long weekend and work here remotely. Hike the mountain on our doorstep, explore the forest, try farming, go swim in the river. Relax in local onsen hot springs. Make new friends, eat and laugh together, feel a different kind of life. Our story is still unfolding, come join us.
